Christmas trees will be collected at the curb January 1st through January 31st.

Compost is available free of charge while supplies lat and can be picked up outside the old Village brush dump located at the end of Garden Ave.  Bring a shovel and a container.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
The Oneida Herkimer Solid Waste Authority provides a drop off site for county residents to dispose of household hazardous wastes per Authority schedule, policy and volume limits.  Some examples of these wastes are: motor oil, antifreeze, gasoline, auto batteries, empty propane cylinders, paint, thinners and solvents, pool chemicals, herbicides, pesticides, and glues.  Watch for detailed flyers or call the Authority at 733-1224 for more information.

Bulk Trash and Junk Disposal Options

Waste Category Examples
Waste must be separated as described below:

A. Construction and Demolition: Wood and lumber tied in bundles not exceeding 8 feet long by 18 inches in diameter, plaster and shingles in containers, porcelain sinks and toilets, storm windows and doors.

B. Sanitary Waste: Clothes, mattresses, stuffed furniture, toys, televisions and rugs.

C. Metals: Pipe not exceeding 8 feet long, tire-rims, bikes, cast tubs and sinks, washers, dryers.

D. Appliances Containing Refrigerants: Refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, A.C. units.  Limited to 1 per collection.

E. Tires: Dismounted from rims, 16 inch or less, no tractor or heavy truck tires collected.  Limited to 6 tires per collection.

F. Hard Fill: Stones, dirt, rocks, 1 cubic yard per collection

Disposal Option #1 - Curbside Collection
Second Monday in May and October at curb by 7:00 a.m. of collection day.

  • Category Collected: A,B,C,D,E,F
  • Collection limits for category A,B,C are limited to 4 feet wide by 8 feet long by 3 feet high each.
  • Collection limit for category D is one each.
  • Collection limit for category E is 6 tires.
  • Only one collection per category per street.
  • Material must be sorted and contained as specified in category description.
  • No batteries, paints or liquids will be collected
  • DO NOT PILE MATERIAL IN ROADWAY

Disposal Option #2 - Drop Off At Dumpster
At DPW Garage on Mill Street the second Saturday of April, June, July, August, September and November from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • Categories accepted: A,B,C,D,E

Also, on the second Saturday of December, January, February and March

  • Categories Accepted: B,C,D,E
  • Village Residents may bring categories listed to the DPW garage for disposal.  An attendant eill be present to aid loading and verify proof of residency.

Disposal Option #3 - Village Dumpster Rental

You may rent a dumpster delivered to your residence for large cleaning jobs or homeowner remodling projects for these wastes: green waste, construction debris, sanitary waste and hard fill.  This service is for residential use only to supplement out regular schedule and to provide a fair method to pay for the disposal cost of large quantities of waste.  Call the DPW for current price schedules.

Disposal Option #4 - Private Waste Hauler

This option should be used for large amounts of waste, contractor waste or if you need multiple dumpsters.  Check the phone book for listings.
